The Friends of the Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival is a non-profit 501c3
dedicated to supporting a 60 year old Mill Valley tradition: the Mill Valley Fall Arts
The arts are fundamental to Mill Valley. For most of its history artists have been drawn
to our town for its beauty, redwood trees, mountain and the diverse, supportive
atmosphere. Today that rich heritage is being challenged by ever increasing housing
prices, requiring artists to commute from increasingly further away. This is now
challenging and changing our community.
Community is a word we use often without thinking. With increasing demands on our time and
attention, we often must work far from where we live which makes it hard to make local
connections. Do you know your grocer, owner of your favorite restaurant or local
business? Are you aware of the many well-known artists, performers, musicians, and
writers that live in this area precisely for the same reason you do? The Mill Valley Fall
Arts Festival is central to supporting and sustaining the rich artistic heritage, and
connecting the WHOLE community of Mill Valley.
Our mission is to have more people answering: "yes" to the questions above, and to create
a stronger, more vibrant and connected community in Mill Valley. We do this in support of
the Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival as it represents everything we love. It was born 60
years ago by a group of artists to create a local festival and has the support of many
great Mill Valley businesses. It has continued and evolved over the years, and now the
festival needs our help.
